Fortcryl 6854 is primarily suitable as a binder in the manufacture of high gloss paints and varnishes for tiles and wood, with excellent water resistance. As a medium hardness binder, it can be used in the formulation of coatings less sensitive to dirt, with greater connecting power for pigments, and a good resistance to blockage. Fortcryl 6854 does not contain film-making aids, i.e. no coalescing, or plasticizer, therefore, the minimum film formation temperature (TMFF) of the final formulation should be adjusted with some film agent suitable for each formulation. For high gloss paints for tiles with excellent water resistance produced with Fortcryl 6854, it is worth the rule of thumb that the addition of film aid should be ca 1.5% in relation to the total recipe. In all formulations, however, it is advisable to check the TMFF of the finished product in order to be able to ensure their proper behavior in the application, considering their influence on the various application properties of interest, such as: viscosity, splash, leveling and others. Fortcryl 6854 is fully compatible with our associative thickeners. For latex paint formulations, we recommend the use of Fortcryl 1940 and Fortcryl 1960.
